How to use the pros and cons generator

1. Name your decision — give it a short title so you can revisit it later.
2. Add your pros — list every advantage you can think of, one per line.
3. Add your cons — list every disadvantage or concern.
4. Rate each item — assign a weight of 1 (minor) to 5 (critical) for how important each point is.
5. Review the score — the tool calculates a weighted score. A positive score means pros outweigh cons; negative means cons win.

Why use a weighted pros and cons list?

A simple list counts every item equally. A weighted list reflects reality better: some pros matter much more than others. This tool gives each item a 1–5 importance rating so you can see not just how many pros versus cons you have, but how much they matter to you.

It is still a thinking aid, not a decision engine. Use the result as a conversation starter with yourself, your partner, your team, or your journal.
